Cheap Seats...without Ron Parker

I know of no one personally that watches the show Cheap Seats, but I am not exaggerating when I say it is my favorite show on TV. I love it. It is the only show I watch that makes me laugh out loud on a consistent basis. The simplest explanation for the show is that it’s Mystery Science Theatre 3000 with old sporting events instead of movies. Oh yeah, and instead of one guy and two robots, it’s these twin brother, The Sklars, who are really funny. (If you want the official description go here.)

When I saw the description for the new episode on Monday night I was really excited. They were doing the 1980 MLB All Star Game. This would be the first time they have ever done baseball, although they have done Steve Garvey’s Celebrity Billfish Tournament and Bobby Bonilla’s Celebrity Bowling Tournament. When I started watching Monday night’s episode I was surprised to see they now have a studio audience. I know the Sklar brothers do standup so I didn’t think it would be a big stretch for them to do the show with an audience, but it really took away from the show. Needless to say I was disappointed. My initial thought is I hope they get rid of the audience, but I imagine they could make it work. I hope it does work out because I sure would hate for my favorite show to blow all of a sudden.

They show the reruns constantly on ESPN Classics so if you have that channel I urge you to check it out. You don’t have to know anything about sports to find it funny.
